Match Report - Leven MC vs Middleton Rovers

20 Sep 2016 by Steve Hunt

Senior Cup - First Round

The first half of this cup game was very even and both teams had sporadic chances to take the lead. Neither team could break the deadlock however and at half time the score was 0-0.

The game came to life in the second half as Middleton quickly established a 2-0 lead early on which lead to the match becoming stretched as Leven looked to press on to get back into the game.

This pressure then turned into a goal as Ryan Sylvestri scored on his debut. This fightback was halted unfortunately when Middleton scored a third and seemingly sealed the victory. Leven’s debutant however battled his way to find his second goal in a Leven shirt and the game was tight again at 3-2.

At this point of the match Leven were also down to 10 men as Liam Johnson was forced off with a nasty looking knee injury, but the team were still giving everything to try and win the match. Leven’s pressure was piling up but this inevitably lead to a counter attack which gave Middleton their fourth seconds before the whistle blew for full time.

Another good run out for a rusty looking Leven, but there is still plenty of time to improve before the league fixtures commence.

Final Score:
Leven MC – 2
Middleton Rovers – 4
Man of The Match - Ryan Sylvestri
